My car is currently sleeping in a bed of snow, as Ottawa has received its second major snowstorm of the season. Up to 40 cm within the last 24 hours or less, so I got to work from home for the afternoon.
Hopefully it stops soon so I can dig out before I play hockey later (Canadian priorities!). Snow tires engage!
Update: hockey cancelled!

I spent a small part of my afternoon watching cars fail to get around in Sandy Hill. It was amusing and alarming.

My short drive home at lunch toward the south end of town was rather interesting, I can only imagine what the university area was like.

It was kind of chaotic. I saw a 12 struggling to move, people driving sideways, people sliding through stop signs and reds, people struggling to drive up hills. I mean, from a shadenfreud point of view, it was great, but also... man, people just need to stay home if they can’t plan their routes better.
That’s one issue I have with Ottawa: no matter how much it snows, nothing really shuts down.

Let’s see... 40cm divided by 2.54 cm per inch, is a little under 16 inches. There. I feel better. Proud to be a Murican.

Close. Much like the dollar, units of measurement in Canadia are only 77% of what the American equivalent is. So it’s a bit over a foot of snow.
